We want you to know...

This town hall includes questions that some people may find upsetting, including issues surrounding substance misuse, sexual assault, relationship violence, depression and self-harm. Please skip questions you do not feel comfortable answering and remember that you are welcome to ask for help, leave or take a break at any time.

Welcome!

We are looking forward to hearing from you at our 2021 virtual town hall. This town hall will be focused on:

  • Preventing youth substance misuse-- and particularly alcohol use.

  • Providing more fun gathering spots for teens outside of homes or school.

You MUST be registered to participate. You may register until 12 noon on the day of the town hall.

You will receive your Zoom link a few minutes before your townhall session starts.

*** Looking for the Zoom link? *** Can't remember what time you registered for? ***

Check your email &/or ask the person who invited you!

Thank you for providing input to make positive change happen in Jefferson County.

FAQs

What are we going to do at the town hall? You will be asked a series of questions about your experiences and feelings. The topics this year include what you would like to see as a space for teens to spend time (aka Teen Café) if there was one near you-- and your experiences/insights related to teens getting alcohol. You will also be asked to participate in our yearly town hall survey that asks what you see among teens your age regarding:

  • Substance misuse

  • Interpersonal violence (sexual and dating violence)

  • Hopelessness and anxiety (mental health)

Can my friend/sibling come, too? Yes, if they register and are a high school student who lives or goes to school in Jefferson County. They will also get a $20 gift card. You could log onto the Zoom meeting together, but you will each need your own device to answer questions on. Send them this link to register: https://sites.google.com/view/2021-jeffco-ctc-youth-town-hal/home

Can my mom (or other adult) come? No, participation is for youth. But, you are, of course!, welcome to discuss any of it with your parent(s) or other adults. And, if your mom (or other adult) wants to go to a really cool event with you, tell them about Helping Teens Thrive...Together coming up in March.

Why are you asking who invited us? Our youth interns are required to bring a certain number of guests as part of their internship. If you weren't invited by a specific person, just put "none of the above."

What about swag and snacks? Yeah, we won't have those this year. Sorry.

What is Jeffco Communities That Care? It's a group of about 100 Jefferson County people who want to make Jeffco a safe, healthy place for our youth to thrive. Find out about our coalition at website: www.jeffcoctc.com .

What are you going to do with this data? First, please know that your answers are anonymous, with the exception of the picture of "something good" which will be connected with your email. We are going to present your ideas, as a compilation, to the community at an event on April 22. Want to come? Let us know by emailing emerewether@co.jefferson.co.us.

What if I don't want answer a question? You absolutely don't have to. Please simply skip the question. If you decide to take a break during the townhall, you can exit your breakout room in Zoom and go to the main room. Of course, you can also log out if you decide you no longer want to participate!
