Visual Arts
In Year 9 Visual Arts students conceptualised, planned and designed art works that express ideas, concepts and artistic intentions. Students also analysed and interpreted artworks to explore the different forms of expression, intentions and viewpoints of artists and how they are viewed by audiences.
Students employed a range of skills using various media to explore and develop their own ideas under the areas of drawing, painting and design. A strong emphasis was placed on individual research and self-directed learning. Throughout the semester the experimented with different types of mediums such as pencil, graphite, acrylic paint, poscas pens, water-colour, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Some of the finals the students created throughout their Semester elective were Keith Haring inspired movement paintings, portrait drawings of their hero/s, mandala drawings, and observation drawings.
Media and Photography
In Year 9 Media and Photography students explore photography practices and styles as inspiration to develop a personal style, explore, express ideas, concepts and themes in art works. In Media, Students developed and refined media production skills using the technical and symbolic elements of images, sounds and text to represent a specific story, purpose and meaning.
During Remote Learning students stretched their creatives wings both inside and outside (but only 5kms outside) the house with their weekly photography tasks. Students were able to master different composition techniques and create a series of work highlighting their skills.
The Media Unit saw students storyboard, produce, direct and star in their own movie trailers. Spanning a number of different genres students gave Hollywood a run for its money
