Section 26. Each school in the Bonsall Unified School District has a plan that describe how it will:
a. Monitor staff absenteeism and have a roster of trained back-up staff. – Each staff member will participate in a mandatory training at the start of the school year. It will be embedded in the list of mandatory training activities and will include cleaning protocols.
b. Monitor the types of illnesses and symptoms among your students and staff to help isolate them promptly. – Locations for isolation has already been identified at each site. There will be an outlined protocol that will be followed when individuals are identified who need to be isolated from other staff and students.
c. Designate a staff liaison or liaisons to be responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns. Employees should know who they are and how to contact them. The liaison will be trained to coordinate documentation and tracking of possible exposures, in order to notify local health officials, staff and families in a prompt and responsible manner. - These concerns will be addressed by the Principal of each site with the support of the Human Resources and Student Services offices.
d. Maintain communication systems that allow staff and families to self- report symptoms and receive prompt notifications of exposures and closures, while maintaining confidentiality, as required by FERPA and state law related to privacy of educational records. – Daily reporting protocols will be instituted for students and staff that will require submittal prior to reporting.
e. Notify local health officials, staff, and all families immediately of any positive case of COVID-19 while maintaining confidentiality as required by state and federal laws. – This reporting protocol will be shared with staff and parents. This will include the daily notification process. While the protocol drafts currently exists in paper format it will be converted to a medium most likely electronic for ease of completion, expeditious reporting and maintaining confidentiality (Google Form and/or Aeries are being explored).
f. Support staff and students who are at higher risk for severe illness or who cannot safely distance from household contacts at higher risk, by providing options such as telework, virtual learning or independent study. – Distance learning structures are being offered at each school site for students. Protocols have been put in place for those staff members who may present with this need and whose duties can be accommodated remotely.
