The plan below describes how the schools within Bonsall Unified School District will respond when a student, teacher, or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 and has exposed others at the school.
a. BUSD will work in consultation with the local public health department and the San Diego County Office of Education to:
i. Determine whether total or partial closure of the school is warranted and length of time necessary, based on the risk level within the specific community as determined by the local public health officer.
ii. Site administration will work with district office staff to identify close contacts at school (classroom, office, activity/area where infected person was based) who self-isolate at home for 14-days.
iii. Identify any additional areas of the school visited by the COVID-19 positive individual that may also need to be closed temporarily for cleaning and disinfection.

Section 28. The following outlines Bonsall Unified School District's plan for continuity of education:
a. When a student is absent due to COVID-19 like symptoms or exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, the student’s teacher(s) will work with the site principal to develop an Independent Study Contract. The contract will be developed according to each child’s medical condition and educational needs.

Section 30. Each BUSD school will continue any required services for individual student needs. Examples may include but are not limited to: A student’s special education Individualized Educational Plan, counseling support, English language support, etc. The plan will be developed on a case by case basis according to the individual needs of each student.
