Day 2

Series Two

Series Two - Water Series

August 20, 2019

Report composed by Bill Marshall and Linda Zakowski

14 degrees, mostly sunny light to moderate wind from SE.

1st bird left side, 92 yards thrown R to L angled towards bush line. Plenty of sticks and decoys in water in line. 2nd middle 87 yds, R to L landing in bullrushes. Right short splash bird 43 yds, double shot with shotgun & popper loads. Line was about 20 yards from shore with a number of Canada Geese decoys to go through.

Same two test dogs as yesterday. Roy had a hunt on left bird but otherwise did well. Test dog Joey had to be handled on middle mark but otherwise a good job.

1st dog , #28 CH, CMH GMOTCH Zaniri Letter by Letter, WCX handled by Leanne Tucker ran at 8.45am.

All dogs picked up short splash bird, then 1st bird, then middle bird. Numerous good performances, but some had difficulty. Left hand bird was issue for some as dog coming out of water went to the right instead of driving up the slight hill and to the edge of cover. Major factor was different perspective once dog got out of water vs at the line(more open area and deeper than what appeared from line). Some dogs had issues with right bird as they would hunt right of the bird and not push over to the water’s edge and required handling.

Test concluded at 1:30pm.

Dogs 4 & 33 were dropped.

Water blind set up from same location. After running a number of dogs the judges decided to scrap the test.

Day 3, Upland. Convoy departs 7.30 for ACHRA property. Starting dog #2.
