Report from the Chair, Bill Marshall

Doors opened at 4pm and guests started to arrive for the social. Lots of raffle items were set up and numerous types of draws were organized from card pulls, bucket tickets , raffle tickets, to silent auction bid sheets.

At 6pm, piper Bonnie Mihalchan lead the head table into the hall. The head table comprised of Bill Marshall-Chair, Tracey Griffin-VP Master National executive, Judges Shelly Blom(Ontario ), Steve Hutt(Nova Scotia), and Dewayne Hay(Manitoba).

Emcee Sandra Marin introduced special guests, representatives from Cabela’s, Ducks Unlimited & the Village of Wabamun, and then the head table. Musician Todd Reynolds lead the singing of the National anthem, and club member Ken Nette gave thanks.

Head table then proceeded to the buffet table where they had a great tasty assortment of chicken, roast beef and fantastic desserts prepared by Red Seal chef Jon Donahue and backed up by his wife Michelle and hard-working kitchen/bar volunteers.

After dinner, Bill Marshall-Chair introduced the committee and welcomed the handlers. Tracey Griffin was next and spoke on behalf of the National executive. Shelly Blom gave the judge’s speech which was followed up with the presentation of the judge’s gifts. Between what the Alberta Clipper Hunting Association had arranged and the National sponsor SportDog had donated, they had lots to go home with.

Head Marshal, Steve Fox gave the judge’s instructions. David McFadyen(book marshal) introduced the handlers where they received a gift from the local club, hat, pin and bib.

Next up was the draw for the 1st dog to run on Day 1. It is #20, GMH OTCH Zaniri’s Full Tilt RA WCX UD(Hrudey), handler Susan Highton.

Last event was the Fundraising draws for the night, led by Fundraising Chair-Steve Bushie and Hospitality Chair-Sarah Fodchuk.

From the smiles on many of the 85 attendees it seemed to be a most enjoyable evening!

Day 1, Monday August 19th, Land Series, caravan leaves Jubilee Hall 7.30 am.
