HEALTH AND WELLBEING is the 3rd goal set by the UN
The goal is to guarantee an healthy lives (phisical and mental) and wellbeing for all the individuals.
How a healthy lives and well-being is defined?
Everyone has one life and we can defined a healthy lives when instead of shortening our lives we lengthen them, eating healthy, nourishing our body and our mind; and well-being is precisely the state caused by our healthy lifestyle.
If we want to lead a long and prosperous and quality life, these two elements are fundamental.
SOME FACTS AND FIGURES
Unfortunately, we have still a long way from ensuring a dignified life for everyone.
A big proportion of child's deaths are in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia
It was estimated that in 2018, 6.2 milion of children under 15 age died, mostly for preventable disease
Children with malnourished condition, especially with the acute malnutrition are mostly like to die from common childhood disease ( pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria)
The majority of maternal deaths (94%) occurs in low and middle income countries
Kids between 10-14 age have higher risk to die during the pregnancy period ( as they are too young to give birth to another kid)
A good news is that the mortality ratio has decreased significantly in Northern Africa, Eastern and Southern Asia
AIDS, MALARIA, TUBERCOLOSIS AND OTHER DISEASES
In 2019, 1.7 million of new people have been infected with HIV
AIDS is the first reason for death for children-adolescents between 10 and 19 years in Africa and the second reason of death among adolescents globally
HIV is the primary cause of death for all women in their reproductive period
Tuberculosis remains the leading cause of death for people who have contracted the HIV virus
TARGETS
The global ratio is 211 maternal deaths per 100.000 deaths live births and the aim is to reduce the global maternal mortality ratio less than 70 per 100.000 live births.
Improve the health of newborns and end preventable stillbirths; for example hygienic umbilical cord and skin care are extremely important, so the contact between mother and infant
One way to achieve this goal is to ensure systematic HIV testing and conseuling, also treating HIV-positive patients with antiretroviral therapy, in this way the patients will not develop AIDS and can still live a long life
The non-communicable diseases are the 1st cause of deaths and disability in th world!
Cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer and diabets are one of them.
The use of alcohol and drugs is harmful for our body, especially our brain. It creates addiction that is difficult to overcome!
1.3 millions people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes!
Sexual and reproductive health are fundamental rights. Every women should have access to abortion, contraception and sexual education.
Having sexual education in school is necessary, as teen start to explore their sexuality and it can also contribute to reuce sexual violence.
All individuals should receive the health services they need without worrying about money and the financial hardship they could suffer.
Most of the hazardous substances are found in the workplace (acid, detergent, paint, disinfectants,...)
The objective of this target is to protect present and future generations from the devastating effects of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke.
Research is essential it can discover new treatments for the patients, improving in this way the quality of life of people affected by diseases; for example without research we couldn't have had the covid vaccine right now.
Health financing is a core function of health systems, that can enable progress towards universal health coverage by improving effective service coverage and financial protection.
It refers to any system of biological and technical nature that inform us of a future danger, it allows us to react in time for the the rise of diseases and disasters.
Having an healthy lifestyle at this point is not only our right, but it becomes a duty as it can help us prevent all these diseases.
There are some scientifically proven rules that can help us achieve this goal:
It is well known that the stomach is our second brain, so it is essential to learn how to feed it correctly:
eat lots of fruits
eats lots of vegetables ( there are a lot of tasty recipes on the Internet, check it!)
your plates should have a portions of protein, carbohydrates and fat, don't exclude any of these macronutrients if not necessary!
listen to your body and eat mindfully, to learn to recognize when your stomach is satiated
It's recommended being active for at least 30 minutes each day.
Many associate exercise with hours and hours of the gym, sweat and pain, but you can approach exercise differently. Maybe you love to dance and you may decide to move your body to the rhythm of the music to give you energy in the early morning; or if you prefer outdoor activities you could start running, starting as a beginner of course, your body can only be grateful. Furthermore, doing physical activity increases our self-esteem and the perception of our body
If you feel you have unresolved problems and past trauma, contact a psychologist. Learn to accept your emotions, work on your self-esteem and confidence.
Often many of our problems depend on wrong actions that we have now automated, the way we perceive the world, how we react to criticism, how we value ourselves, it all depends on our past experiences.
Being aware of it is the first step, because remembering everything starts with our mind
Happiness can sometimes seem like a distant mirage, but if we start to value the little things we take for granted and be grateful for them, we will begin to feel happier. Follow your passions and always listen to your heart and instinct. These are the suggestions I feel like giving you.
