In recent years the manufacturing environment has undergone dramatic change. For achieving market goals, it is essential to produce quality parts in less time. Evolution of information technology, variety manufacturing concepts with zero lead time demand and quality consciousness have supported fast adaption of computerized numerical control (CNC) machines. As in human beings’ mental ability is becoming more important than physical ability to do the manual work, similarly CNC programming in the same way has more importance along with selection and use of CNC tooling. In this course therefore an attempt has been made to develop skills required for programming, tooling etc for CNC machine. CNC machines normally are not limited to machine tools only but realm of CNC has widened in almost all areas of manufacturing, processes and support activities. It is therefore very important for Diploma mechanical engineers to master CNC technology.
Demonstrate the ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings to develop precise CNC programming for various machining operations.
Apply G-codes, M-codes, and other CNC programming techniques to design create programs for milling, turning, and drilling operations on CNC machines.
Virtual or Operate CNC machines effectively, ensuring proper tool selection, machine setup, and adherence to safety protocols for efficient machining processes.
Evaluate and troubleshoot CAM programs, CNC programs and machining operations to enhance manufacturing accuracy, productivity, and product quality.

Activity Week-1: Make a visit report on IMTEX-2024 exhibition, include visited photos. At least 3-5 sheets report needed.
Activity Week-2: Discuss the steps for choosing the Right CNC machine tool using various parameters like operator experience, Material to be cut, Part difficulty and complexity, LM guides, Control systems, Cost per part, Availability of space.

Activity Week-3: Presentation on Macros and Parametric Programming in CNC by discussing basic macro skill-Macro capability, common features and applications- Macro structure

Activity Week-4: Solve all questions of CIE-1 Test paper.
Activity Week-5: Discuss and present a report on influence of coolant in CNC by explaining Purpose- delivery methods of coolants- Types of coolants- Health and safety issues- Properties- Recycling and disposal of cutting lubricants.
Activity Week-6: Write CNC Turning Programs for the given three drawings in activity-6 word file.
Activity Week-7: Draw a outer profile having your initials as slots on it as prescribed in the table and write the respective program and simulate it in the SEENC-MILL software. (Put the screenshot of the simulated program)
Activity Week-8: Write CNC milling Programs for the given two drawings in activity-8 word file.
Activity Week-9: Solve all questions of CIE-2 Test paper.
Activity Week-10: Generate the NC-codes for the given below drawings using Edge Cam Turning and Milling Software. Put the Simulation output screenshot and NC-code generated in the Activity-10
Activity Week-11: Solve all questions of CIE-3 Test paper.
