Web 2.0 tools keep being updated and new and better ones are being created. Don't worry - this does not mean our school is switching away from G Suite any time soon! What you have learned will continue to be very useful for next year and years to come. However, there is just so much more out there to discover and explore. This is not discouraging news, though, because we are all capable Web 2.0 learners and users. While our school will have a new PD focus will be next year, that does not mean we have to drop our Web 2.0 learning; after all, independent learning is always allowed!
During the Next Steps session in early June, staff will have a dedicated time and space to reflect with their growth groups on what we have learned, where we have gone, and to consider where we might go with Web 2.0 tools in the future. One of the discussion questions during this session is "What is a specific Web 2.0 tool goal that you would like to work towards personally over the next school year?" There will be time allocated for recording responses in the Google Doc shared within each growth group.
Don't feel limited to only one; if you are inspired, feel free to set personal goals as you would like!
Taking place in mid-June in the Learning Commons.
Special food and beverages will be provided!
Do NOT do any extra work for this Showcase! You are intended to reflect on the past year and choose something that you attempted. It may have worked as you wanted, or it may be something that you can see potential in and learned from! Show us that tool and what you (and/or your students) did. The aim of this evening to to acknowledge and celebrate what has been achieved by everyone over the course of this school year, not to add more workload to a particularly busy season.
Here are the details of the event: Stations will be set up throughout the Learning Commons for teachers to display their laptops, and any accompanying student products (not required). As staff arrive, they will draw a number to see if they are presenting first or viewing and visiting first. Viewers will be given bags of Hershey Kisses to reward and congratulate the presenters they visit! After 20 minutes of circulating and sharing, the roles will be switched. Ten minutes will be reserved to get more food and drinks and to get seated in the Learning Commons large presenting area. There will be a special address from the School Leadership Team and the Tech Integration Team. Then the session is officially over, but the room remains open to socialise, celebrate, eat and drink!
