6:35pm Principal's report ** End of the year programs underway. Will look different this year** Report cards will look a little different this year for the end of the year. Will be based on where they are narratively. It was a hard year.**. Keeping up with guildlines. Still need to wear masks with distancing guidelines.** Make sure your kids are bringing in water bottles. We have bottle filling stations.** Thanking the board for being there. We WILL MISS YOU AMY!** Grants – Two Student Grants. One is for a soccer goal for outside; the Insurance doesn’t allow it. More balls for the playground. Comes out of recess enrichment. Karen and Therese will be working on it· Two other grants: Danek for stem challenges. 36 different ones for all grade levels. $44.99· Fifth grade teachers summer book club* Book for each student for summer reading comes to $639.40.§ ** Motion to approve both grants – Karen and Beth. - Trimester 2. Assessments have been given. Kids are progressing. Narrative report card again this trimester to be more specific on progress and challenges.
- No information on moving more students back into the building.
- Virtual Steam night. Close to 100 participants.
- Mrs. Adams doing great work with students and virtual students. Chandelier is at the Discovery Center.
- Grant submitted to Grant committee – K teachers submitted it. $300.65 Megan Middenforf and Lisa Klossner to approve. Make Check to Paula Finch.
- Pictures tomorrow will have to be rescheduled- TBD
- African Road had a virtual concert on Jan 29th with Jared Campbell.
- Taste of ARE virtually.
- Junior Girl scout troop that was a part of ARE made child-sized facemasks for children who needed them.
- Tioga Hills switched to a PTO – they are also having virtual trivia with families.
- VHS - Musical Le Mis – will be virtual.
- Dues did get mailed & cleared
- Blaze pizza went super well, we made $200.
- Next restaurant night on April 27th at Panera. YUM! From 4-8PM.
- Trying to still have a BBQ event.
- Nothing to report.
- Amy: we are at 137 members! Please ask people to sign up!

- Scavenger Hunt March 19th. Come pick up a list and go find the items! Come on back for a prize. Photos will be used in the yearbook!

Principal’s Report - Therese Mastro• Going 2 days a week on January 4th, phase 3.• Teachers have cohorts all set up and parents will be told during their conference. Barnes and Noble - Jessica Bowerman• Only two people at the table at once.• Talking about doing shifts during the fundraiser.• Push in-person sales, online doesn’t make as much and you just get a gift card. Broome Books - Amy BurginFlyers went out about a week ago- and we still have $0 in sales according to the site but need to double check as people have ordered and received them already. District Council - Sue Wendell• District council dues need to go to Ashley Youngstrom to be completed and sent in.• Clayton Ave had a virtual book fair and a fund run. Numbers were down in participation.• Tioga Hills may go from a PTA to a PTO, vote in progress• Vestal Middle School – Anne Loose retired. Jane Hashey to take over in Jan to the end of the year. Construction is going on. Making students put on the videos for the meetings. Vacation power pack – they used to do it- now they have a pantry for clothes and foods.• Walmart donated school supplies to African Road to be sent to the district.• High school sports practices are going good. Band had an online concert.• Dr. Lamash talked about going to phase 3. Motion to start at 7:06 by Lisa Klossner Principal's Report – Therese Mastro Vestal Hills Voice sent home today about where we are and what were focusing on. Curriculum night – staff doing it as a team for their grade level. Link will be sent out Thursday by grade. Picture day is not until the spring now tentative Jan/Feb . (Amy Burgin) Susan Christensen Question for Mastro – Asking about a skip in scheduling (arts) due to holidays. They are working on how to get that in still so they don’t have to miss out on their specials. Book Fair – Colleen Hayes There is an online book fair until October 15th, the link is on the Facebook page. You can order online and it will be shipped to your house. You can extend to other family members- they just need the store link. Please put the book fair in the Vestal Voice so families who aren’t on Facebook can order as well.Box Tops – Annie Lindsay: We are up to $55.20. Broome Books – Ashley Youngstrom & Amy Burgin Decided to wait until the end of October/ November. They are going to make the copies so we don’t have to stuff the envelopes. Sending order form home instead of book. Send payment in and we will send the books home to the students. Character Ed – Megan Middendorf: Looking into virtual assemblies. District Council – Sue Wendell One school is doing a remote author visit. Several schools are backing off on fundraising. Many events are canceled or postponed. Coke Rewards as a fundraiser. Something to look into. Reggie talked about the technology classes for parents. Therese put that out today- it’s this week and there are different webinars. Reggie said to let parents know that on the district webpage under student and family page there is a remote tech page to help with tech issues. Vestal Middle School is doing membership payments as well as other types of payments through venmo. ( PTO’s can do this, but not PTA) Glenwood for a fundraiser are doing poinsettia sales. Family Night- Mandy Diaz Cider Mill forms went out. Some are returned already, due October 14th. Chipotle Night the 28th of October this month. Flyer will be sent home next week. Good on dine-in and take-out, not delivery. Family Photos- Mandy Diaz Couldn’t get flyers to the school but most spots are filled up. Ask family and friends to sign up- doesn’t have to be VHE families. Membership- Cathy Willis· We have 81 Members already!· A lot of remote welcome folders are still in the lobby. PARP – Ashley StuccioStill waiting on the forms to come and will start a bit later this year. Thank you for your patience. Scrip -- Ashley Stuccio: Coming out the end of October in hopes it will be in for Black Friday. Spirit Wear- Ryan Woodiwiss· Taking orders online hopefully but will have to take care of credit card fees via the PTA.· Shirts, Hoodies, Blankets, Coffee Mugs, Holiday Gifts! Audit Report – Amy Burgin: Done at the end of every school year. Done by a third party. Everything is all lined up. We are good to go for this year! Treasurer's Report- Ashley Youngstrom President's Report- Amy Burgin· Cathy Willis getting reflections together for kids to do at home. Great for all the kids at home right now. Kids submit something related to the arts that they totally do at home. It is a state run program. There's a special theme each year. This year’s theme is ‘ I matter because… ‘ We are the only building in the district that has had kids at the state level in Vestal.· Early Members for membership will be entered to win a gift basket! Drawing In November.· Every three years we have to renew our bi-laws. This is a renewal year and we sat down and did it a few weeks ago. We found out that our bi-laws have been approved.· No in person events this year so we are doing a pumpkin decorating kit for the kids. You have to fill out a form and send it back in by October 16th in order to secure a pumpkin kit. The kit will have markers, stickers, googly eyes, and a coupon for a pumpkin at Russell’s on Old Vestal Road. No Cost to Kids, completely covered by the PTA. Email a picture of the pumpkin to Amy Burgin and everyone on Facebook will vote… who ever gets the most votes will get a $5 Cinema Saver Gift Card. No pictures of the kids, just the Pumpkin! Motion to start 6:35pm – Cathy Willis and Sue Wendell Principal's Report- Therese Mastro Welcome back! A thanks to the whole school community for being willing to help and have patience. Day one is in the books. Curriculum night is next Monday and will be virtual with grades planning to present as a team. Meal survey is online and must be filled out each week to receive student lunches. Book Fair- Colleen Hayes: Virtual book fair October 3rd – 15th. We also had $300 in sales this summer with our Summer Book Fair. Spring fair was discussed but need to iron out more details before final decision. Box Tops- Annie Lindsay: Box Tops is completely virtual and we need to promote it as best we can. Broome Books- Ashley Youngstrom: We will be sending home a flyer for the purchasing of the broome books, but we will not be sending home with the students this year. They will need to send money in before books are sent home. Character Ed – Megan Middendorf: Will be virtual this year and it’s TBD. District Council- Sue Wendell: There was a meeting already – will get update next month,. Family Night- Mandy Diaz Chipotle is on 10/28 from 5-9 and online orders DO count. Cider Mill- Different packages will be sent home for purchase and then we will send the coupons home that the families order so they can go pick them up themselves. Family Photos will be done by Colleen Ondrako this year again and we are looking into more weekends and possibly photos done at an apple orchard Membership- Cathy Willis: Envelopes are being sent home in folders and hopefully we’ll have a good turn out this year. PARP- Ashley Stuccio: Sending Logs to Anna Gebbie to be printed soon. Will be starting a little later this year, and prizes will be handed out monthly instead for students who are in school.
