The Consumer Math courses are designed for classified students only. Placement in these courses is decided in collaboration with the classified student’s case manager.
The Consumer Math courses are designed to teach students the mathematical literacy needed as citizens and consumers in a 21st Century society. Students will be exposed to a variety of consumer topics related to real life situations such as banking, sales tax, calculating wages, automobile loans, credit/debit cards, interest rates, etc. These courses are designed to engage students as active citizens in today’s world and to meet the challenges of financial responsibility. Ultimately, students are learning what to do to achieve financial independence. Targeted skills and concepts will be reinforced throughout the units using practice activities and culminating math projects.
