Enrichment Programs

Full STEAM Ahead

Once per week in the afternoon, the children participate in an exciting hands-on activity in either Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Mathematics.

Movement Dance Class

Once per week, each class has a half-hour session of dance during their afternoon active playtime.  The children learn balance, rhythm, coordination and timing.  They do this through creative movement.  We coordinate with the monthly curriculum and themes when possible.  The children learn history of where certain dances originated through storytelling and creative movement.  We use props such as trampoline, mat, rhythm sticks, bells, ribbon sticks, scarves and balance beam just to name a few.  There is a Showcase at the conclusion of the program.

Namaste Yoga Class

Once per week, each class has a half-hour session of yoga during their afternoon active playtime.  The theme is coordinated with the monthly curriculum and themes we have going on throughout the school.  The students are learning to slow down their bodies and take a breath.  They learn to stretch their muscles while strengthening them.  They work on balance, core strength, flexibility and personal space.  There is always an inspirational message at the end for the students before they leave class and they leave class reciting it together.  "You are beautiful on the inside and the outside. Namaste."

Library

Getting children excited about books and reading is one of our primary goals here at VRECS.  With our library the children have the opportunity to visit once a week and borrow of one of our many books.  It’s a beautiful and inviting space with lots of enriching materials available for all the children to enjoy.
