We Believe in Educating the Whole Child:

Their Confidence and Compassion, as well as Their Academic Skills.

Our philosophy at Van Riper Ellis Christian School focuses on children's intellectual learning and also their social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical growth. We know that needs of the "whole" child are important. We do this through developmentally appropriate early childhood programs.

We work collaboratively to establish ongoing communications with families and to maintain mutual understanding to ensure that the children’s learning and developmental needs are met.

We take the time to work with each child individually in order to address their particular needs and abilities. We hope to foster a love of learning in each and every one of our students, which will last throughout their lives. We encourage both positive social interaction and self-helping abilities.

All classrooms include dramatic play, toys and games (math), art, library, discovery (science) and sensory areas.  These special areas support school readiness and are relevant, meaningful and interesting to the children.

The Van Riper Ellis Christian School complies with all applicable provisions of the N.J. Manual of Requirements as well as Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.

History

The Van Riper Ellis Christian School is a non-profit ministry of the Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church.  It is located on the property of the Church in the Educational Building.  The school was founded in 1974 with great vision for educating children in a Christ centered atmosphere.  VRECS is an integral part of the church's mission to the community.

The Broadway Baptist Church was founded on May 31, 1868, as the Weavertown Mission Sunday School. The Van Riper Ellis Memorial Church began as a Sunday School Class at the home of Mrs. Eleanor Van Riper in 1870.

In 1985, they consolidated, forming the Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church.
