Large Animal Projects
Students learn new things, practice hands on skills, and learn responsibility by raising and working with livestock animals like goats and sheep.
Students who sign up for this project will be assigned a livestock animal to care for, train to walk and practice showmanship (animal handling) to be exhibited at the SoCal fair in Perris. Market animals are auctioned off at the commencement of the fair and students who have shown great responsibility through the duration of the project may earn money from the sale profits.
Rabbit Project
Students participating in the rabbit project learn responsibility, animal care, and hands on animal handling skills by caring for a rabbit. The rabbit show team travels to several shows throughout the year where students can show off their animal handling skills and knowledge.
Agriscience Fair Research Projects
This is a competition designed to recognize students who are studying the application of scientific principles and emerging technologies in agricultural enterprises.
Students may select a focus category and develop a research project that relates to a sector of agriculture (E.g. Food Products, Natural Resources, Animal Systems, Plant Systems, etc.). Students must formulate a hypothesis, design an experiment, gather and analyze data, submit all findings to be judged, and interview about their findings with a panel of judges.
Farm Stand Project
Students assist with growing, harvesting, packaging and sales of produce grown on our school farm here at The Hill.
