On May 22, 2024, the Wired4Women Tech Forum held its inaugural awards programme focused on ‘Celebrating Excellence in Tech’. The awards recognise the achievements of women across the tech industry, from CIOs and tech leaders to students starting their careers. There were 400 nominations, which were then whittled down to 53 finalists across 11 categories.
Gender diversity in the ICT industry still has a long way to go, both internationally and locally. The saying "you can't be what you can't see”, is vital for empowering women in the workplace and beyond. Role models are crucial.
The awards programme was designed to recognise, celebrate and elevate the achievements of women who are already doing great things and provide a platform for these role models.
