I am a passionate academic and researcher whose work integrates excellence in teaching, impactful research, and transformational leadership in both institutional and professional contexts. My academic contributions are deeply informed by a commitment to equity, innovation, and inclusion—principles aligned with UWC’s Vision 2035.
In learning and teaching, I design inclusive, student-responsive curricula, integrating 4IR skills through experiential learning such as MIT business simulations and fictional internships. I embed student needs assessments in my pedagogy to address barriers to learning in large, diverse classes. My innovation in teaching has earned recognition including the UWC Excellent Teaching Team Award (2023), EMS Innovative Lecturer Award (2022), and a finalist position in the National University Teaching Awards (2024). I have contributed to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) through peer-reviewed publications, national conference presentations, and institutional staff development.
My research focuses on ICT for Sustainable Community Development and Innovation. I have published 10 journal articles, 2 book chapters, and 13 peer-reviewed conference papers. I’ve successfully secured national grants such as the NRF Early Researcher Grant (2021), NRF BAAP (2023), and UWC Innovation Seed Fund (2025). I supervise postgraduate students across all levels and am actively engaged in national and international research communities, including ACM COMPASS and IFIP 9.4.
In institutional and professional leadership, I serve on strategic committees such as EMSAC (Deputy Chair), Senate Assessment Committee, and the EE Forum Task Team. I lead the Work Integrated Learning programme in Information Systems and co-develop partnerships with industry. Professionally, I contribute through leadership roles in ProteaCHI, Women in Tech, and as a reviewer for key academic journals.
These achievements demonstrate a coherent academic identity marked by sustained excellence, recognised impact, and a forward-looking vision for inclusive transformation in higher education.
I have worked in industries in various professions for ten years, applying my theoretical knowledge, learning and practical skills to my teaching. My specialist areas include risk-, quality-, project- and knowledge management; business analysis and testing. I am a certified project manager and tester as well as having experience in several industries such as financial services, retail and auditing. This has aided my curriculum redesign for all of the courses that I teach. Course updates included the latest industry standards, such as Unified Modelling Language for Business Analysis, Business Model Canvas and Design Thinking for IS Strategy Formulation and Social Architecture for Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure Management.
My professional portfolio includes the following areas:
My goals include the following:
• Teaching and learning
International collaboration for the application of ICT in an educational context. The goal is to provide the opportunity to expand the current curriculum to be more student-centric in different contexts.
International collaboration with one of our global partners with a focus on marginalised groups in another context.
I plan to apply for the University of Missouri South African Education Program (UMSAEP) to assist me in achieving this goal.
• Research goals
I intend to apply for NRF rating in 2026, supported by my NRF Black Academic Advancement Programme and increased research output.
• Institutional leadership
I would like to apply for a more senior role such as Deputy Dean Teaching and Learning.

The UWC Legacy Fund aims to raise funds for the growth and advancement of the infrastructure at the University. This fund is intended to coincide with the institution's 100th Anniversary in 2060 or earlier if the target of R1 billion is reached.
UWC has grown in leaps and bounds, and while still offering qualifications in the traditional areas it was established to cater for, as a modern institution it needs to create facilities to offer qualifications for which jobs haven't been considered yet.
Assist by contributing to and driving this changing landscape.
