Students are required to register every year for the programme they are enrolled in. First year students must ensure that:
proof of SAQA certification has been provided
Students in the clinical disciplines must be registered with the HPCSA. Students, especially foreigners, will not be allowed to treat patients if they are not registered with the HPCSA.
Students MUST register before 31 March.
Maximum registration period
MSc (thesis) and structured MSc (mini-thesis): 3 years
MChD/ specialist degree: 4 years (5 for Oral Pathology)
PhD: 5 years (requires a minimum of 2 years full-time study)
Extensions can only be granted for a maximum of two years on to the maximum study period. Extensions should be requested together with the annual progress report and should be accompanied by a workplan.
