High-Fidelity Demo Video
The design review for SeeSaw left us with a positive outlook, as the app was well-received overall. Reviewers appreciated our color scheme and the User Interface as a whole. They were particularly impressed by how much we took user needs into account when making design decisions.
Even during challenging moments, we were able to strip back the project and refocus on the core priorities of the user. One reviewer described our app as a "glorified calendar", which could be interpreted negatively, but we see it as a compliment. After all, why reinvent the wheel when we can make it better?
Based on usability research we made a few changes to the onboarding process. We included a personalization spot for the user's name, separated the crowded pages into less columns for better flow, and added "next" and "back" buttons for clear navigation. We also added descriptions to make it more clear the user should select their choice of goals.
Day Setting & Visualization
This iteration enhances navigation, usability, and visual clarity. The pencil icon now redirects users to their task list, while the refined navigation bar includes Home, Month Calendar, Weekly Goals, and Profile for clearer structure and improved usability. The current tab is highlighted for better orientation.
Additionally, visual distractions, like excessive hole designs, were minimized, and readability was improved with adjusted font size and contrast. Task time suggestions are now based on past data, with manual editing options. The profile button was removed from the top left for a cleaner interface.
In our final iteration, tasks are now visually distinct: completed tasks have filled circles, same-day upcoming tasks have outlined circles, and future tasks appear blurred. A monthly calendar has been added for better task planning, and weekly goals based on long-term input are now represented with progress bars that fill as tasks are completed. The profile page provides access to long-term goals and onboarding, creating a more cohesive user experience.
What Was Well-Received:
UI & Visual Design: The color scheme and overall user interface were positively received. The app's design strikes a balance between a fun, approachable vibe and professionalism, making it both engaging and user-friendly.
Mobile Usability: The mobile interface received positive feedback, particularly in regard to button size and touch target accessibility, ensuring a smooth user experience on smaller screens.
Goal Tracking Structure: The approach of breaking down long-term goals into short-term tasks was appreciated for its clarity and usability, allowing users to easily track progress and stay on task.
AI Actionable Suggestions: The app's ability to transform large, complex goals into actionable tasks was seen as a strong feature, helping users make meaningful progress without feeling overwhelmed.
Areas for Improvement:
AI Suggestions & Trust: Enhancing AI reliability and ensuring users can trust the app's suggestions is crucial. Addressing concerns about AI hallucinations and communicating the value of AI more clearly will improve user confidence and engagement.
Goal Alignment: It is important to ensure that short-term tasks are clearly aligned with long-term goals, helping users feel that their actions are directly contributing to their broader objectives.
Dopamine Engagement: The inclusion of motivational elements, such as sound effects or confetti upon goal completion, was highlighted as an effective way to boost user engagement.
User Feedback Integration: A more robust focus on incorporating user feedback into future updates will ensure that the app continues to evolve in response to user needs and expectations.
