Exploring majors, planning out prerequisite courses, and applying to majors takes time and research. Meeting with the RC Academic Advisor/Coach can make this process easier!

For required quarterly advising and grade check meetings, the Academic Advisor/Coach will send two emails asking students to set up appointments.
It is important for students and parents to understand that if a student fails to respond to these communications, the Academic Advisor/Coach will not continue to pursue a meeting with them. By choosing not to meet, RC students will also be expected to take accountability for any impacts of these actions.
Additionally, RC Staff will not contact parents directly in keeping with the student’s privacy rights under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We strongly encourage students to communicate directly with their parents about their academic performance, if they so choose.
In order to maximize the benefit of the supportive community at the Robinson Center, each student must advocate for themselves and proactively seek out assistance from the Academic Advisor/Coach early and as often as necessary. Students are always welcome and highly encouraged to meet with the Academic Advisor/Coach!
Pre-registration steps: Please review this website to learn about the steps to take prior to your registration day.
How to register: Please watch this tutorial to learn how to register for courses using the MyPlan system.
Student grades are reviewed at the end of each quarter until a student has declared their major.
All students who meet the grade check criteria will be sent an email requesting an individual meeting with the RC advisor. During this meeting, the student’s academic progress, quarterly schedule, and particular challenges will be discussed.
At the discretion of the RC Advisor, a student may be encouraged to participate in an academic intervention such as the following: attend study skills workshops; meet with an academic counselor regularly during the next quarter; alter quarterly schedule; or establish a specific study plan.
The Robinson Center staff is committed to assisting students in accessing the services of the Disability Resources for Students Office (DRS). University students are expected to advocate for themselves in identifying their need for accommodations, and the Robinson Center staff will assist any student requesting help with this process. The DRS office provides services to enrolled students who have a documented permanent or temporary physical, psychological or sensory disability that qualifies them for academic accommodations under the law. To obtain services through DRS, students will need to do the following:
Submit documentation of the diagnosed disability from a qualified treatment provider. Please contact Disability Resources for Students to discuss your specific disability and to inquire about the documentation needed in order to determine your eligibility for academic accommodations.
Set up an intake appointment with the DRS Counselor or Director after your documentation is submitted to DRS. This meeting is designed to determine your specific needs, discuss the effects of your disability and determine the academic accommodations that would be reasonable and appropriate for you.

RC staff understand that, for various reasons, an RC student may decide that they no longer wish to continue their studies at UW, either permanently or for a brief period of time.
While we want all students to feel empowered to independently make decisions that they believe will best meet their needs at any given point during their academic journey, we also recognize it is important that RC staff be involved in some of these decisions. This includes the decision to withdraw from UW for one quarter or longer.
So, if you are considering taking a quarter off or withdrawing from UW (taking more than one quarter off**), we encourage you to schedule a meeting with the RC Scholars academic adviser.
**Note: If you are planning to take only one quarter off (excluding summer), review the quarter-off eligibility policy.
Prior to your meeting, we ask that you review UW’s Checklist to Withdraw and prepare to share and discuss the following:
Reason(s) why you are considering withdrawing from UW
Additional support you would like/need now or in the future, including from RC staff
Your updated contact information
Alternative options/plans you have explored/are considering, including completing a GED or taking classes/earning a degree at a community college
Remaining related questions/concerns you have
For ENGRUD students only: The ENGRUD leave process and any support you may need with this.
