Many Paths to a Physics Major

Like a river flowing through a delta to the sea, there are many paths to becoming a physics major. Prof. Miguel Morales will introduce some of the new undergraduate research pathways being developed by the physics department. The goal of these programs is to make sure all of our students have the opportunity to become a physicist.

Dr. Miguel Morales is a Professor in the UW Physics Department and the Physics Undergraduate Research Coordinator. His Radio Cosmology group builds radio telescopes to see the Universe’s first stars as they burned away the primordial hydrogen fog 13 billion years ago. Miguel has been passionate about STEM access and inclusion for forever, and has run a Community College access program in the Physics department since 2009 (now PATHS). He also serves on the UW Diversity Council and is a Dean’s Academy Futurist.
