Your upcoming training requires a computer or a tablet. (A mobile phone's window is too small.) You may use any computer as long as the operating system is fairly current. However, we recommend that you use the school computer if it has arrived. That will ensure the school laptop is updated and ready for upcoming assignments. If you are using a tablet, be sure to use a browser rather than the Canvas app. The instructions are not written for the app. (Your school laptop will arrive soon if you have not received it yet. Complete this form if you have not received the school laptop.)
You might not have very many courses in Canvas when you log in. That's okay. Counselors and teachers prepare Canvas shortly before lessons are scheduled to begin.
It is not time to begin your courses yet. Your current job is to get trained. The training that you are about to complete will make learning much simpler when lessons get started. So, if you see courses when you log in, please do not open them unless you are instructed to do so. (We know you are curious. So, you will have an opportunity to browse your Canvas account before lessons begin.)
You need to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as the browser when logging in and working in Canvas. Some of the curriculum websites do not work well with other browsers.. Be prepared to use one of those two browsers when you advance to the next page. The browser icons are shown below.
Some of the activities in the Canvas training are specific to the school computer. You will know which ones they are when you get to them. If you have not received our laptop yet but have access to a personal computer or tablet, skip anything that should be completed on the school computer until our computer arrives.
