UT Martin’s 12th Annual Chamber Fest – March 14-16, 2024
Applications are due by Feb 16th.
Chamber Fest is an annual event for exceptional high school musicians seeking to make music at a high level in a small chamber group setting.
Through participation, students will develop skills inherent in chamber music including collaboration, musical awareness, style, intonation, and timing.
Students will also be introduced to new repertoire, receive coaching by our world-class music faculty, and rehearse and perform alongside other motivated high school musicians.
Audition Procedure
Apply to Chamber Fest and submit your audition video.
Please fill out the application form here. You will also submit your audition video in this form.
Applications are due by Feb 16.
Submit a demonstration of your musical skills.
No longer than 10 minutes of total video material is required.
Find repertoire requirements listed for your instrument below. The goal is to demonstrate your strengths.
Upload the video link in the application form. Make sure to check the sharing settings so it can be viewed by anyone with the link.
Other Information
There is NO application fee. However, if you are one of the students selected, a $60 tuition fee is required for festival attendance.
Additional costs include two nights of lodging and meals, both of which are the student's responsibility.
A parent or guardian must accompany participants who are staying in a hotel. Commuters are exempt.

Please select and submit one lyrical and one technical etude, standard orchestral excerpt or a portion of solo repertoire for your audition. Sample etudes include the Hite "Melodious and Progressive Studies" and Ferling "48 Studies." Sample solo repertoire includes major concerti by Mozart and Cimarosa, sonatas by Handel and Hindemith, and unaccompanied works by Britten and Chavez.

Sample etudes include the Weissenborn "Fifty Advanced Studies" and Milde "Studies in Scales and Chords." Sample solo repertoire includes major concerti by Weber and Mozart, sonatas by Telemann and Hurlstone, and unaccompanied works by Osborne and Bach.

Percussionists participate in the UTM Honor Percussion Ensemble as a part of the UTM Chamber Fest. Please submit audition repertoire on a minimum of two instruments (1 must be a keyboard) commensurate in difficulty with the following texts:

Cost
There is a $60 fee for Chamber Fest which includes registration and a t-shirt. Please bring cash or check payable to UTM Music.

In accordance with University Policy, all visitor vehicles parked on campus require a guest pass. A parking pass will be provided for you during event registration at the Fine Arts building. Parking without a parking pass will result in a ticket. Please display the guest pass provided by the UTM Music department on your dashboard.

Housing reservations are the responsibility of the participating student. Each student must be accompanied by either a parent or band director. If your student would like to share accommodations with a student from another school and split supervision responsibilities with another parent/director, please let the appropriate studio faculty member know so they can help you find a solution and partner you with the right people.
