Teresa M. Buescher CAPT MC USN (ret) was a Navy plastic surgeon. She is a veteran of almost 22 years of military service; 15 years in the Army and 7 years in the Navy. She is microvascular trained and did primarily reconstructive surgery in both her military and civilian practices. Previous military assignments included US Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) and WRAMC (Army) as well as Bethesda Naval Hospital and USNS Comfort (Navy). She retired in 2007 and went on to do her microvascular fellowship at Mercy Hospital with Dr Bernie Chang followed by 6 years at the University of Kansas where she started the breast microvascular program. From the University of Kansas she returned home to the DC area and spent 6 years at George Washington University where she did primarily breast reconstruction and wound closures. She retired completely from clinical medicine in 2021. Hobbies include dog rehabilitation and gardening as well as maintaining several fish ponds.
