The Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) is an interdisciplinary translational cancer research program of the Department of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), and the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP). The mission of the CPDR is to conduct state-of-the-art clinical, epidemiologic, and translational research with an emphasis on precision medicine to enhance the readiness of active-duty personnel in conjunction with the continuum of medical care for military retirees and beneficiaries. The CPDR also enriches the training of the next generation of physicians/scientists who directly benefit the quality, outcomes, and stability of the military health care delivery system.
The CPDR’s focus is on ground-breaking discoveries through strong academic and clinical research (over 29 years and 450 publications) have led to major advances in translational prostate cancer research and treatment. The CPDR integrates expertise of urologic oncologists, cancer biologists, genitourinary pathologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, medical technologists, research nurses, patient educators, bioinformaticians, and program management specialists. All these areas of expertise provide state-of-the-art resources for in-house and collaborative research in prostate cancer.
