The main objective of Track and Field is for the athlete or competitor to perform better than other athletes in the event. Runners attempt to cover some given distance in the shortest time of all competitors; jumpers jump higher or farther than other competitors; and throwers propel an object at a greater distance than anyone else in the competition.
