General Rules:
Throughout the race, sprinters must run in specified lanes and must not cross lanes.
Athletes can break inside in races with a crowded start. They start from staggered positions in the 800-meter race and can break inside after the first curve.
Athletes can break inside after the start of lengthier races such as 1500 meters, 5000 meters, and 10000 meters.
Throughout the race, sprinters should avoid stepping on white lines that outline their lanes.
The starter pistol and the blocks both have sensors. The athlete is disqualified if he or she makes a false start.
Athletes are not allowed to touch the other side of the start line with their hands or feet before making the 'set' instruction or firing the starter pistol.
During the race, athletes should not distract other competitors.
The referee may order the race to be restarted if an athlete is interrupted, or he may ask the athlete to compete in the following round.
Athletes may leave the track before the race is finished voluntarily, but they are not permitted to return; otherwise, they will be disqualified.
