Welcome to CTE @ Washburn Rural High School
The first semester comprehensive course is designed to instruct students in the basic knowledge and skills required for construction of residential housing and structures. Construction takes place outside of the building on school property.
This course is a continuation of Residential Carpentry I. It is a comprehensive course designed to instruct students in the basic knowledge and skills required for construction of residential interior structures, including building cabinetry.
The students in the program during the 2020-21 school year completed framing a home on site at WRHS. The house was then moved to the Hi-Crest neighborhood. Before 2020 we partnered with Habitat For Humanity building houses and cabinetry for the organization.
Since 2021 we have partnered with MidWest Homes to build a house each school year. Currently we are in the middle of building our second house.
The New CTE Innovation Center is providing us the opportunity to build in doors.
