Washburn Rural Students Participate in FFA Land Judging Career Development Event

The Land Judging Career Development Event helps FFA members and Agricultural Education students to understand basic differences in soils. Students will be able to comprehend why soils respond differently to management practices, as well as how soil properties affect crop growth and homesite dwellings.

The competition was held September 29th at Pleasanton, KS. The team placed 11th out of 14 teams in the Senior Division. Adrian place 24th out of 69 judgers; Kyler placed 37th and Aubrey 66th. According to Ms. Westhoff, this is the first time that Washburn Rural has sent a team in nearly 20 years! Ms. Westhoff is teaching Animal Science and Environmental Resources & Wildlife Science this semester.
