Colorguard involves movement of the body and equipment to marching band music within a prescribed formation. Students have the opportunity to learn skills with various equipment, such as flags, batons, wooden rifles, swing and chain flags. No previous experience is required, however, a strong understanding of how to count music and move to the beat is necessary.
Try-outs for the colorguard are held in March for the following marching season. Practice clinics are offered before the try-outs to teach/review basic dance and flag skills. Colorguard students must enroll in Marching Band for the fall semester, and may continue with Band for the remainder of the year if they play an instrument.
