Technology Integration
Chromebooks will be utilized almost daily since we are a 1:1 school.
Classroom iPads are also available with teacher permission.
Daily work, weekly assignments, as well as larger projects often require word processing on school computers. Not all work is computer related though. Students have a choice on some assignments.
An Internet connection will NOT be required to do well in this class. Ample time will be provided during class time to complete computer work. Should that not be enough for some, CAP time is an option as are before/after school times – provided the student communicates with the instructor.
The teacher has determined which students do not have working Internet access at home by asking them privately. Extended due dates are provided for these students if they consult with the teacher ahead of time -- not after the fact.
If a student chooses to take web-based related work home, an off-line version should be saved if working Internet is not available.
If computer problems occur at home, the student will be given the benefit of the doubt provided notification occurs as soon as possible.
Although the instructor is fairly computer & technology savvy, she knows just enough to be dangerous and mess things up! She is not too proud to learn a thing or two about technology from students.
Check the teacher website. Updates occur almost daily. Almost everything is on there or in Google Drive with some items linked on the Daily Dose documents posted in Google Classroom.
Students will be expected to keep an organized Google Drive folder for ELA work. This provides insight into how Microsoft Windows works with the use of folders. Students will learn the file/make a copy technique and name the documents as directed
Students will also go to the shared GDrive folder, the one the teacher has editing access to, and create items from scratch.
Typing skills are a given with spacing and word processing skills often being a part of the grade of the assignment.
