Description: During this short challenge you will be learning the basics of gamification and ways to incorporate games or gamification strategies into your classroom.
Directions:
Step 1- Read through the article "5 Ways to Gamify Your Classroom"
Step 2- Create your own list of 3 ways you could add games to your classroom
Step 3- Reflect on this question- What would be the benefits of gamifying your classroom or even just one lesson?
Step 4- Fill out the Challenge Accomplishment Form then upload a screenshot or link of your artifact to the Brag Board. Your artifact can be a screenshot of your list of 3 ways you can gamify your own classroom or a screenshot of another article you found on gamification.
Description: For this challenge you will be using 3-5 of your standards and creating a badge system for students to "Level Up" to earn the badges as they master class standards.
Directions:
Step 1- Locate 3-5 of your standards that build upon each other that you can use for this challenge
Step 2- Go to badge.design and create badges for the standards you chose (you can also build badges here canva badge creator)
Step 3- Reflect on this question- How can students "level-up" by earning badges as they master your standards?
Fill out the Challenge Accomplishment Form then upload a screenshot or link of your artifact to the Brag Board. Your artifact can be a screenshot of the badges you created.
Description: In this challenge your task is to create a board game that your students can play that helps them to better understand one of your standards or concepts. This will take a lot of creativity deciding what type of game you will build, what the rules to your game are, and how it will be played.
Directions:
Step 1- Decide what standards or concepts that you want students to learn from the game you will create
Step 2- Determine what type of game you will build (Candy Land, Scrabble, Online Board Game), what game pieces you will need (dice, characters).
Step 3- Write out the directions to your game. (What are the rules?)
Step 4- Begin creating your board game. This can either be just drawing it out, creating a digital version of the game, or actually building a prototype model of the game.
Step 5- Fill out the Challenge Accomplishment Form then upload a screenshot or link of your artifact to the Brag Board. Your artifact can be a screenshot of the board game you created or a screen shot of the rules to your game.
Description: For this challenge you will be designing a build challenge for your students using Minecraft and one of your standards/concepts. Click the image to the left for over 50 examples of build challenges.
Directions: **You will need to complete the "Minecraft" challenges prior to completing this challenge if you don't have experience using Minecraft**
Step 1- Open Minecraft Education Edition
Step 2- Click this link and look through some of the 50 build challenges to spark some ideas on a lesson you would like to build Link to 50 Challenges
Step 3- Find a Lesson you would like to gamify
Step 3- Create your own version of a Minecraft Build Challenge (this can be your artifact)

Description: In this challenge you'll experience a game designer that can be used with students. (This only works on a PC, it will not work on iPads). Kodu Game Lab is a 3D game development environment that is designed to teach kids basic programming principles. Kodu allows creators to build the world's terrain, populate it with characters and props, and then program their behaviors and games rules in a bespoke visual programming language.
Directions:
Step 1- Go to the Microsoft Store and Search for "Kodu Game Lab" (See image below)
Step 2- Download
Step 3- Click this link to watch an 11 minute tutorial video KODU Tutorial
Step 4- Launch Kode Game Lab and work along with the tutorial video
Step 5- Play! Spend 30 minutes creating your own game using the game lab. Practice Creativity! How could your students use this to build a project around one of your standards?
Step 6- Fill out the Challenge Accomplishment Form then upload a screenshot or link of your artifact to the Brag Board. Your artifact can be a screenshot of the game you created in Kodu.
