• New Visions - Science - Comprehensive and detailed curriculum that includes unit and lesson plans, pacing guides, and student-facing materials such as handouts and practice problems.

  • • Provides students with notes and prior classwork related to the curriculum but doesn’t offer additional resources for independent perusal.

    • Due to its comprehensive nature, teachers should familiarize themselves with the offerings before launching any units.

• NJ Center for Teaching and Learning - Science - Provides well-organized, comprehensive slide decks, student materials, and other interactive activities for all subjects.

• Great starting point to deliver content, but teachers may want to supplement with videos and zoom discussions to bring these materials to life and to increase mastery because the content (while stright-forward) is not very engaging.

• Students can practice via classwork and homework assignments but may need additional guidance, as directions are not always clear.

• Teachers are provided tests and re-tests for all units

• Detroit Public Schools Take Home Packets - Science - Grades 6 - 8

  • • PDF packets of iReady activities the provide a range of K-8 practice for all subjects

    • This is a great resource, in particular, to supplement middle school instruction and / or if technology is not available in student homes

    • Activities mimic state tests and MAP passages.

    • Answer keys are provided so that students can check their own work but because of the PDF format, the only way they can receive immediate feedback is if teachers provide a separate channel for them to submit responses.

    • Instructions for these home packets are at times unclear, so teachers should be prepared to offer additional guidance

• CK-12 - Textbooks that are organized by topic, easy to access, and accompanied by embedded videos and photos.

  • Signing up for an account is free and easy.

  • All resources are available in Spanish and some in Korean, Dutch, and Chinese

  • Students can annotate as they read, and their notes / highlights are saved for review.

  • NOTE: Some science subjects are titled as middle school resources. However, the content is in alignment with what is covered in high school classes.
