Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary or higher education institution and must have graduated in the DLLE program at the time of the application. A graduating DLLE student can apply to MA LLE but the application will be processed a sem after graduation from DLLE. For example, if a student graduates in DLLE on 2S 2023, s/he can apply to MA LLE on 2S 2024.
An MA LLE student should not be a current student of any other graduate program from other CUs and universities. If this will be the case, the applicant must ask for an honorable dismissal from the other program before applying to be considered a student of LLE and or before continuing to be in the MA LLE program. Failure to do this may result in the student's disqualification from the program.
Retention in the program
Master’s students must maintain a GWA of 2.0 or better to be retained in the program.
In accordance with the University of the Philippines' Maximum Residency Rule (MRR), MA LLE students must finish the program within seven (7) years.
The time limit for completion of any degree is inclusive of leaves. Failure to complete the program within the prescribed period may take the student out of the program.
Load per Semester
The minimum load per semester is 3 units (equivalent to one course) and the maximum load is 6 units. A student who feels that enrolling the maximum load is not feasible for him/her may opt to enroll the minimum load. All students are expected to enroll every semester (whether the minimum or the maximum load), unless they are on an approved leave of absence (LOA) from the University.
Please be guided by the crucial dates stated in the academic calendar published by the university. For the academic calendar, kindly refer to this link.
MUST KNOW
If a student fails to file the necessary LOA application and he/she decides not to enroll any course, he/she will be considered on absence without leave (AWOL). The moment he/she decides to return to the university and enroll, he/she has to file an application for readmission first, addressed to and for approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Education (Dean, FEd), subject to recommendation of the LLE Program Chair (PC). You may refer to the generic procedures in this web page from the Office of the University Registrar for further guidance.
If the student does not need to enroll any course--because he/she has already taken the courses offered; because he/she only needs to remove a deficiency such as an EXT or a 4.0; or because he/she is already done with all the course work and is already working on his/her thesis or special problem (whichever applies)--he/she has to enroll under residency.
