Students in the MA LLE program shall graduate after successfully completing the remaining LLE courses and finishing a graduate thesis. Kindly refer to the program checklist and course offering pattern subpage for a more detailed guide.
The course work may be taken within two semesters while the graduate thesis may be finished in 3-4 semesters or longer, depending on the quality of outputs and revisions made by the student.

In accordance with the University of the Philippines' Maximum Residency Rule (MRR), DLLE students have a maximum of four (4) years to finish the program. MA LLE students must finish the program within seven (7) years. The time limit for completion of a degree is inclusive of leaves. Failure to complete the program within the prescribed period may take the student out of the program.
Because the programs are ladderized, there is no direct entry to the Master's program. Students who wish to get an MA LLE degree must finish all 7 courses of DLLE (21 units) first, and have a GWA of 2.0 or better.
During his/ her last semester under DLLE, he/she has to a.) file for an application for graduation under the DLLE program and b.) apply to be admitted to the MA program, signifying that he/she will take the qualifying exam.
