The AA (Studio Arts) is a two (2) year program aiming to produce graduates who are competent to work in the creative industries as assistants in painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramic and other fine art studios, gallery assistants, teacher's aides or administrative staff in arts education, and similar occupations. It is part of a ladderized structure leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. It corresponds to Level 5 in the Philippine Qualification Framework (PQF) approved by NEDA SDC in 2012 and with Republic Act No. 10647 which aims to strengthen the interface between Technical-Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education.
At the end of the Associate in Arts (Studio Arts) program, graduates should be able to:
Demonstrate intermediate skills in drawing, painting, and/or sculpture techniques in the production of artworks;
Visually articulate concepts and ideas in painting and/or sculpture, applying creative, technical, critical, and research skills;
Discuss their artistic practice in terms of relevant concepts and principles in Philippine, Asian. and Western art history;
Graft creative output reflecting appropriate choices of form and content; and
Uphold ethical values in their professional practice.
The BFA (Painting) is a four (4) year program aiming to
Develop advanced skill sets in the perceptual, technical and processual aspects of making art focusing on the painted or pictorial form through problem-solving projects that enhance flexibility of thought and style;
Hone creative thinking stimulated through the exploration of various media across a variety of subjects, themes, concepts, genres, iconographies and formats in painting in the expanded field;
Promote critical judgment in the creation of works through opportunities inside and outside of the studio that motivate research and improve the ability to make good valued choices on form and/or content that reflects humanity and social responsibility; and,
Teach strategies for the presentation of art works to institutions and publics for professional practice, cultural exchange, education, engagement, and sharing with communities.
In addition to fulfilling the same outcome set for the AA (Studio Arts) after completing their 2ⁿᵈ year coursework, BFA (Painting) graduates should be able to:
Visually articulate their concepts and ideas in painting in its expanded field applying creative, technical, critical, and research skills;
Verbally articulate how art history, theory, and contemporary art discourse are related to their respective practices; and,
Produce a thesis of a fully conceptualized work out of a reflexive artistic inquiry.
The BFA (Sculpture) is a four (4) year program aiming to
Develop advanced skills in the material, technical, and spatial aspects of sculpture and dimensional form focusing on the various iterations of the processes of modeling, addition, subtraction, and substitution through problem-solving and inquiry-motivated projects that enhance flexibility of thought and style;
Hone creative thinking stimulated through the sculptural and/or spatial interpretation of subjects, themes, concepts, and styles through explorations of the sculpture processes in an expanded field across a variety of materials;
Promote critical judgment in the creation of spatial works through opportunities in a variety of spaces that motivates research and improve the ability to make good values choices on dimensional form and/or content that reflects humanity and social responsibility; and,
Teach strategies for the presentation of art works to institutions and publics for professional practice, cultural exchange, education, engagement, and sharing with communities.
