Organizations and communities rely on information to make decisions, coordinate activities, and deliver services. The theme “Systems in Action: Information Systems for Organizations and Communities” highlights how information systems can be designed, built, and deployed to address real-world needs—whether for businesses, schools, non-profits, or local communities.

Projects in this theme explore tools such as databases, decision-support systems, web platforms, and mobile applications. By working on solutions tailored to organizational and community contexts, students learn how computing connects directly to people’s daily lives, enabling more efficient operations, greater transparency, and improved access to resources.
