Service plays a vital role in Jaderick’s career as an expression of academic citizenship. He contributes to the discipline through peer review, conference leadership, and engagement with professional networks. Within the university, he takes on committee work and leadership roles that shape institutional development. He also extends his service to the broader community, ensuring that computer science expertise supports national goals and the public good. Through these commitments, he weaves service into academic life not only as a professional responsibility but also as a meaningful contribution to society.
Service to the discipline means helping to sustain and advance the scientific community itself. Jaderick has served as editor-in-chief, editorial board member, and reviewer for refereed academic journals, and he regularly reviews proposals for funding agencies. He has also reviewed contributed papers and served in various roles at conferences, supporting the exchange of knowledge that drives the field forward.

Within the university, service takes the form of leadership and governance. Jaderick has engaged in administrative work and participated in committees that help shape policies, guide academic programs, and ensure the institution remains responsive to both its mission and the needs of its stakeholders.
Part of this service also includes securing support for scholarship—developing and submitting research proposals that not only advance scholarly inquiry but also bring funding, visibility, and resources to the University. A detailed record of these efforts can be found in the Grantsmanship page.
Beyond the academic world, service becomes a bridge between scholarship and society. Jaderick has shared his expertise through speaking engagements at various fora, mentoring students from other institutions—particularly at the high school level—and other volunteer work. These activities make specialized knowledge accessible and inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.

Service in all its forms demonstrates how the work of a faculty member extends beyond personal scholarship into collective good. Whether through strengthening the discipline, supporting the university, or engaging with the broader community, Jaderick’s service reflects the responsibility of higher education to contribute meaningfully to society.
