Filling Out Plan of Study (POS)
"To all concerned:
Re: Making a plan of study
Good day, students. This is a guide for making a plan of study. For
proper reference, you need to have a copy of the program curriculum
checklist (attached in this email).
Full-time graduate students are required to take 12 units every
semester (13 units for the first semester since EnE 203 is a 4 unit
course), whereas part-time students must take 6 units (7 units for the
first semester because of EnE 203). EnE 203 is a required course for
all incoming students of the program since this is an introductory
course and is a prerequisite to the higher EnE courses in the program.
You can not enroll in the other major courses without passing EnE 203.
Other courses that must be taken within the first year are EnE 205
(Environmental Engineering Laboratory) and EnE 202 (Research Methods
in Environmental Engineering).
ES 201 (Advanced Mathematical Methods in Engineering) and ES 204
(Numerical Methods in Engineering) are also required courses for all
graduate programs.
There are sample templates of POS in the attached curriculum checklist
which you can use for reference. You can follow these. Please make
sure that you do this to speed up your POS submission. Once this is
acceptable, send them to the program coordinator for signing. As of
the moment, since you may not have any program adviser yet, place the
name of the program coordinator.
I’m also attaching two actual POS of a full-time and a part-time
student as examples of accepted versions. Take note that the major
courses correspond to the intended research tracks of the students.
These courses are selected from the curriculum checklist.
Finally, understand that the POS can be revised at any time, should
the student decide to pursue a different research track. Revision can
be done at any time during the student’s stay in the university.
Thank you very much."
