BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BIOLOGY

The Bachelor of Science in Biology curriculum incorporates specialized, interdisciplinary applied courses, and current trends in biology that are Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-enabled. The program provides updated training for 21st century biologists in the light of the expanding knowledge in the biological sciences. It aims to expose students to cutting-edge developments in Biology in order to produce graduates that are well-honed in field research as well as in laboratory investigations.

The curriculum provides options for a wide variety of career opportunities for the graduates, such as in the academe; in research institutes and laboratories; and in industries in which biological knowledge and practices are used, including biotechnology, food, health, agricultural and environmental organizations, government and regulatory offices, and intellectual property offices.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

This four year degree program was instituted in response to the demand for staff with a high level of technical and professional training required by business, industry, government and the academic community to perform specific functions ranging from the lowest level professional to the highest level researcher and educator. The program aims to prepare the students for instruction, research activities related to the discipline, for advanced studies in Computer Science, and to train them to develop software systems. This curriculum was written based on the Association for Computing Machinery-Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (ACM-IEEE) consortium’s 2013 report on the BSCS Curriculum. 

The curriculum starts with fundamental courses that provide students a deep understanding of mathematical and theoretical concepts in Computer Science. These fundamental courses are followed by advanced Computer Science courses that focus on building higher level skills for computer science professionals, preparing students to become responsible leaders in the industry.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MATHEMATICS

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program is a four-year curriculum designed for students who wish to study mathematics as a science. A four-year degree program with a total of 150 academic units which includes courses on mathematics, statistics, computer science, elective track, and general education. 

The program envisions to produce graduates honed in the exercise of mathematical thinking, disposed to the rigors of abstract analysis; disciplined in the language of logic and precision, and multifaceted in the process of problem-solving. It is designed to produce specialized, highly creative, and technologically adept graduates who likewise possess the versatility and flexibility to either work or to be trained in any field of relevance in the present information-driven community environment. Pure Mathematics courses are offered with a variety of Applied Mathematics courses in the areas of Statistics and Computer Science.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN STATISTICS

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics (BS STAT) program is designed to respond to the growing demand of the industry, government, academe, and research institutes for leaders (who are skilled and knowledgeable in data analysis), data scientists, analysts, academicians, and researchers.

The BS STAT is a four-year degree program with a total of 140-141 academic units in its curriculum which includes foundation courses such as Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, providing a strong foundation for students who would like to pursue graduate studies in statistics, data science or other related fields. Electives shall be offered for students to choose an area or discipline that they want to specialize in, encouraging the students to engage in an interdisciplinary environment of Statistics.
