Scientist III, National Museum of the Philippines
Dr. Arvin C. Diesmos is a Curator and Senior Scientist at the Herpetological Section, Zoology Division
National Museum of the Philippines. His research focuses on systematics, ecology, biogeography, and conservation of amphibians and reptiles of the Philippines and Southeast Asia. He is a member of the Amphibian Specialist Group, Tortoise & Turtles Specialist Group, Crocodile Specialist Group, and the IUCN Amphibian Red List Authority.
He is also appointed Scientist III by the Department of Science and Technology Scientific Career System. Dr. Diesmos won the NAST Outstanding Young Scientist Award for Wildlife Ecology and Environmental Science given by the National Academy of Science and Technology.
He earned his PhD in Biology in 2009 from the National University of Singapore. He received his MS Wildlife Studies and BS Biology (Animal Ecology) in 1998 and 1992, respectively from the University of the Philippines Los BaƱos.
