Affordable Medical Equipment for Physical Impairments


Eligibility: There are no qualifications or income restrictions to use HEKP's service

Cost/Payment: HELP accepts cash, checks and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and Discover).

About: HELP offers low-cost, safe and clean health supplies and medical equipment rentals and purchases. Delivery and pick up of larger items is available in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. Short term and long term rentals are available.

About: Provides recycled, reused, or repaired durable medical equipment (DME), adapted devices, or assistive technology.

Equipment

Demonstrations allows individuals and groups to compare the features and benefits of various types of assistive technology.

Short-term Equipment Loans allows you to try equipment out before you buy it to make sure it is the right fit for you.

Borrowing equipment Can fill gaps while you are waiting for a repair or shipment of your own equipment and on a temporary basis while you recuperate from an injury or illness.

About: Technology Specialists work with individuals who have a disability to determine what assistive technology/home modifications are appropriate for their primary living environment. Modifications may include grab bars in the bathroom, entrance modifications, and assistive technology such as automatic door openers, stair lifts, and vehicle modifications.

Services at School

Eligibility: ATP offers separte programs for students and children aged Birth- 3 years, and 3-21 years.

About: ATP Partnership Education program provides services to IFSP and IEP team members working with children and students with disabilities who are receiving services within school systems.

Services include: technical assistance for phone, email and online video (e.g. Zoom) technologies; Training for IFSP/IEP teams and school personnel; Access to a Statewide Assistive Technology Equipment Loan (AT4All.com) for up to 60 days at no cost.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Equipment, Devices and Grants


Eligibility: Nebraska residents aged 19-64 years of age who demonstrate financial need.

Cost: Assistance with out-of-pocket expensiveness may be available through Lions Club. Ask for more information.

About: Provides refurbished monaural or binaural BTE hearing aids.

Eligibility: Individuals aged 65 or older.

Cost: First refurbished BTE hearing aid low to no cost. Second can be purchased for $100. Out of warranty repairs $100.

About: Provides refurbished monaural or binaural BTE hearing aids.

To Apply: Request application from the NCDHH, or click here to print one. Complete application and mail to Susanna Fuehrer 4000 Calley Rd. Ste. 420 Lincoln, NE 68510. You will receive an approval or denial letter. Approval letters will include additional instructions.


Eligibility: Nebraska residents aged 0-18 who do not have hearing aid coverage. Priority for equipment goes to newly identified children ages 0-3

About: Formerly called the Nebraska Children's Hearing Aid Bank, provides new and recently refurbished hearing aids to children with financial need. All hearing aids will be loaned for 5 years, with extensions as needed. All new hearing aids will include a 2-year warranty and 2-year loss and damage.

Eligibility: Children with hearing losses between the ages of newborn and 20 years with a financial need.

About: Provides grants for children who have hearing aids and/or an assistive learning device. Grants are used to cover or lessen the costs of hearing aids, enclosed caption converters for television, tactile units, FM units (into which a hearing aid is plugged for amplification), computers to assist deaf children in communicating, as well as other technical devices as needed.
