Services at Heartland Family Services Include:
Eligibility: Refugee families with children 3-6 years of age.
About: Ready in 5 is a program that seeks to prepare preschool age refugee children and their parents for the American school system through in-home groups and center-based site. Staff also assist families to enroll in kindergarten, preschool, and Head Start.
Eligibility: Families facing social or economic hardships with children, birth to age 12.
Cost: The class is free and child care is available.
About: is a group for parents and children who want to learn more about developmental stages and needs, appropriate expectations, effective discipline, family roles, cooperation, and independence. This group meets once a week to learn about healthy parenting styles. Parents share tips and experiences and get to know how other families solve the challenges that cause stress in their daily lives. Participants are given handouts with lessons and information to practice at home.
Group Time Frame: Twelve (12) weeks
Languages: Classes are offered in English, Spanish, and Karen/Burmese.
Cara y Corazón (Face and Heart) Program
Eligibility/Requirements: Program acceptance is dependent upon completion of program intake paperwork, commitment to maintaining consistent attendance for duration of 16-week program and available program openings. Child care will be provided during the sessions.
About: Cara y Corazón is a family strengthening, leadership development program that helps families build positive and health relationships.

Interpretation Services
Cost: $45 per hour during regular business hours and $55 per hour after 5:00pm and on weekends. Minimum booking time is one hour, with additional time billed in 15 minute increments.
About: Offers interpreters for organizations and individuals for general legal and medical appointments, therapy sessions, application for human care assistance and services, appointments for job interviews and orientations.

About:Experienced instructors teach reading and vocabulary, grammar and writing, listening, pronunciation, TOEFL preparation, and critical-thinking skills. Instructors are available daily to meet with students to discuss their class work, language skills, and future academic plans.
Applicants pay a $45 application fee and will need a copy of high school transcripts, bank statements, and completion of the school’s financial sheet for the program.

Requirements: Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in any field. Present a TOEIC score of 600, internet-based TOEFL score of 52-55, or IELTS score of 5.5. Must submit a resume demonstrating your professional work history, a current bank statement that shows adequate funding for the program, and a photocopy of your passport.
Cost: $75 non refundable application fee. Tuition and other expenses to be determined upon admittance into the program. See the UNO Undergraduate Financial Affidavit for estimation of expenses.
About: IPD is an intensive, eight-week training program focusing on the English language, intercultural communication, and leadership skills. Most students live with an American host family and each student is matched with an experienced mentor for personalized coaching, cultural experiences, and English conversation practice.

About: Employment Services helps you prepare for your job search. Services are provided by former refugees who understand your situation who will help you document your past work history, create an employment plan, and refer you to other services as needed.

Talking Círculos Programs (Latino Center of the Midlands )
Eligibility/Requirements: Program acceptance is dependent upon completion of program intake paperwork, commitment to maintaining consistent attendance for duration of 16-week program and available program openings. Child care will be provided during the sessions.
About: Talking Círculos is a sixteen week comprehensive youth leadership development program for adolescents aged 14-19 based on the nationally recognized Joven Noble curriculum. There are two programs, Xochikalli targeted for young women, and Ollin, targeted for young men. Both programs support and guide youth through their "rites of passage" while focusing on the prevention of substance abuse, teen pregnancy, relationship violence, and school failure.

About: the Latino Center of the Midlands offers a on site, student advocate mentor program for youth who are at risk of disengaging with the education system. This program addresses attendance barriers as a pathway to graduation and future success.
Who can go? High school students
About: Helps high school students prepare for life after graduation. Offers guidance and opportunity awareness for finding work or going to college after finishing high school.
Ten leadership scholarships totaling $1,000 each will be awarded at the summit to attendees.

About: Restoring Dignity is a movement of people in the Omaha area who help struggling refugee families by bringing them household furniture and supplies, teach basic cleaning skills, and help refugees submit maintenance work order and report slumlords.
