Overview: YES serves youth experiencing homelessness and near-homelessness by providing critically-needed resources which empower them to become self-sufficient.

About: The YES Emergency Shelter is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with youth workers, counselors and homeless youth advocates. Our emergency shelter is a family-style residence with separate sleeping areas for male and female clients. Youth share meals, television and computer privileges, and recreation and laundry facilities in a community area. A trained staff of counselors, advocates and youth workers spends individual, focused time with residents to help them work through the problems they face.

Maternity Housing and Shelter Services
Eligibility: assist women that are 19+ years and pregnant and who do not have other children in their custody. Ideally less than 25 weeks pregnant but can be flexible.
About: Provides a nurturing and loving home during the pregnancy. The staff
at the Bethlehem House help women create a plan for her and her child’s future. The goal is to provide a transition to independent living for the women and their baby.

Eligibility/ Requirements: For veterans and their families who are struggling with homelessness.
About: The program provides a thorough needs assessment, and veterans also receive employment assistance, case management and referrals to community resources and housing opportunities. Veterans enrolled in the VA-HOP program experience a high rate of success, with 95 percent of participants remaining in their permanent housing choice for at least 12 months from the time of admission.

Reference: Participants eligible for permanent supportive housing will be referred to us by Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH) to The Salvation Army. These individuals will be referred to MACCH by local shelters and outreach workers. Please contact shelter staff or outreach workers about eligibility for permanent supportive housing.

Through Habitat for Humanity
Eligibility/ Requirements: To be selected, applicants' current housing must be inadequate, substandard, or affordable. Applications must prove ability to pay for services and show willingness to partner. See website for more details. Applicants will be put on a wait list.
About: Habitat for Humanity of Omaha helps empower families as they work toward becoming first-time homeowners. Throughout the process families gain hands-on construction experience and attend homeownership workshops. Once construction/existing home renovation is complete and the affordable Habitat Omaha loan is issued, families are well on their way to becoming successful homeowners.
