Culturally Relevant & Responsive Teaching (CRRT) Component

• The component objective is

“Assist STEM faculty and graduate assistants (GAs) to develop culturally responsive teaching strategies.” 

• To achieve changes in faculty inclusion of culturally relevant and responsive pedagogies and practices, this component has a two-pronged approach: 

  • faculty and graduate students will attend culturally relevant and responsive professional development [STEM Faculty Professional Development Program on Culturally Responsive and Relevant Teaching (SFPD-CRRT) Modules] throughout the academic year, and 

  • faculty will implement strategies learned through the development Modules to modify existing course curriculum and/or pedagogical instruction. 

• The three specific deliverables of this component are:

  • Professional development of 40 STEM faculty

  • Professional development of 30 graduate students

  • Training materials as 8 STEM Faculty Development modules
