Cohort met weekly (led by undergraduate and graduate mentors) and engaged in the following:
Developed a community service project in partnership with Get Outdoor Nevada” during Fall 2021. In this activity, students identified, discussed, selected and designed a habitat for pollinators.
Developed a problem statement, proposed potential solutions, prepared a report, and presented the project for the “Engineering for People Design Challenge”.
Participated in social activities including barbeque and games (e.g. mafia)
Participated in fun and educational activities (e.g. geowall, surveying)
Professional development activities (e.g. mock interview and resume workshop)
Invited presenters from the Academic Success Center for student training and presentations about campus resources, study tips, and time management tips.
Invited industry professionals for presentations about understanding scope and challenges of civil engineering profession, and job application processes from.
Note: Most activities were online/virtual but the community service project, geowall, game nights, and surveying were in-person. A field trip to a water reclamation facility was scheduled but canceled due to Covid-19 concerns.

Revised and approved CEE 225/325/425 Cooperative Training courses to include on-campus experience towards this course for credit. Now students can count their TRANSCEnD cohort experience for credit.
