LETTER OF AGREEMENT
BETWEEN
UNITED AIRLINES, INC.
AND
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS IN THE SERVICE OF
UNITED AIRLINES, INC.
AS REPRESENTED BY
ASSOCIATION OF FLIGHT ATTENDANTS-CWA, AFL-CIO
This Letter of Agreement is made and entered into in accordance with the Railway Labor Act by and between United Airlines, Inc. (the “Company”) and the Association of Flight Attendants – CWA, AFL - CIO (the “Union”).
WHEREAS during the negotiations between the Company and the Union (collectively, the “parties”) leading to the 2025.2030 Agreement (the “Agreement”), the parties agreed upon terms electronic communications; and
WHEREAS the parties recognize that improvements to electronic communication that reduce phone calls between the Company and Flight Attendants are in our mutual best interest; and
WHEREAS the parties desire to have on-going discussions about improvements to electronic communications;
NOW THEREFORE, the parties enter into this Letter of Agreement to continue discussions on electronic communications to develop, improve and implement those electronic communications on the following terms:
Within six (6) months of the ratification of this Agreement, the parties will meet to discuss how to improve electronic communications. The parties will work together to develop new or existing technology to more efficiently and timely notify Flight Attendants of delays, cancellations, rescheduling of pairings and changes to Flight Attendant schedules;
Notification will be on a system developed by the Company with input from the Union. Flight Attendants will be able to access messages on the Link or equivalent device. In addition, at the Flight Attendant’s option, the communications may be accessed on the Flight Attendant’s personal device provided appropriate security requirements are met. The aim is to develop a system which will have two-way communication which will include the ability of the Flight Attendant to respond to targeted communications.
Options for electronic notifications will include automated voice calls (Notiflyer or equivalent), text messages, or communication through other new and/or more efficient electronic communications which may be developed by the Company for the purposes stated in paragraph 1, above.
All electronic notifications will be stored and made available according to the terms of Section 3.F., Crew Communications.
The aim of this Letter of Agreement is for the parties to work cooperatively to develop and implement more efficient electronic communications, however, nothing in this Letter of Agreement shall limit the Company’s ability to continue to introduce new and/or more efficient electronic communications for the purposes stated in paragraph 1, above, which are consistent with the terms of this Agreement.
The parties will meet on an ongoing basis to discuss improvements to electronic communication and to identify additional areas for electronic notification in addition to those already provided for in this Agreement.
This Letter of Agreement shall run concurrently with the terms of the Agreement.
