One-Time Payment
The One-Time Payment provided for in Letter of Agreement 23 is scheduled to be paid on or about September 15. We have received a number of questions about whether Flight Attendants can defer some portion of the payment to their 401(k) or UK Stakeholder account, and the answer is yes, you can defer a portion of your payment.
We will be publishing more information about exact timing, however we will be offering the opportunity for Flight Attendants to elect what portion, if any, of their One-Time Payment they wish to defer to their 401(k)/UK Stakeholder account. Similar to what we do each year with Profit Sharing, this election will apply only to the One-Time Payment and will not impact the elections you make for your regular paychecks. For planning purposes, please remember that the One-Time Payment is not subject to any employer direct or matching contributions.

The One-Time Payment provided for in Letter of Agreement 24 is scheduled to be paid on September 15, 2026. One-Time Payment statements are now available. This will be paid a separate check from your regular monthly payroll. *
Working with the United Retirement Plan teams, we have extended the period for eligible Flight Attendants to make an election to defer a portion of their One-Time Payment into their retirement savings accounts. The new deadline will be August 14. Please see the direct communications from the Retirement Plan team for more detailed instructions.
As a reminder:
The One-Time Payment is not eligible for any employer direct or matching contributions.
Your normal contribution rate does not automatically apply to the One-Time Payment deferral choice. If you do not make an election to defer a portion of your One-Time Payment during this window, no deduction will be made to your 401(k) Savings account.
*Due to international payroll processing limitations, London-based flight attendants will see their One-Time Payment included with their September 16 paycheck.
