Maternity, Parental and Adoption Leave Pay
Under the terms of Section 15 of the CBA 2026, Flight Attendants on Maternity, Parental and Adoption leave are entitled to pay at the start of their leave of absence. Flight Attendants on Maternity Leave are entitled to 10 weeks of pay; Flight Attendants on Parental or Adoption leave are entitled to two weeks. The pay is based on the line holder minimum of 71:00 per month, prorated for the number of weeks, times their hourly rate of pay as provided for in Section 4.A. of the CBA 2026.
Flight Attendants who start the leave of absence on or after May 31, 2026, will see their pay continue on the regular check cycle.
Flight Attendants whose leave started prior to May 31, 2026, and continued up to or past May 31, 2026, we will be reaching our to you individually to explain how you will be paid. This communication will be sent to your company (United.com) email addresses within the next several weeks.
Flight Attendants who were on Maternity, Parental or Adoption leave that ended prior to May 31, 2026 are not entitled to that leave as it occurred prior to the start of CBA 2026.
Boarding Pay
Standard Boarding Pay
Effective with flights with a departure date of May 31, 2026, you will receive Boarding Pay. Boarding Pay is calculated based on the standard customer boarding times for the aircraft on which the flight is operating (This information is available in the SOP Section of the eFAOM) and is calculated at half of your hourly rate of pay as provided for in Section 4.A. of the CBA 2026.
Boarding Pay will display in the Pay Register under "Additional Pay (Other Rates)". This will update by the time each segment is completed and will show the total boarding pay for the pairing up to that point. For example, in the graphic below, pairing H3092 of May 31 had two segments, each with a boarding time of forty minutes (:40) for a total of one hour and twenty minutes (1:20) of Boarding Pay.
While the vast majority of flights are displaying Boarding Pay correctly, we are aware of a small number of flights with a May 31 departure date, which require manual intervention. These are primarily flights that depart on May 31 at the origination station but cross the International Date Line enroute back to base. These should all be updated prior to pay close for the June bid month.
Re-boarding:
Section 4.S.1.a.(1). provides "If a Flight Attendant boards a flight and all passengers are required by the Company to deplane, the Flight Attendant shall receive the boarding pay for each boarding." This language only applies in situations where boarding has already commenced and all customers are required to deplane, and then are reboarded for that flight. This does not apply when customers have the option to deplane, such as in the event of a delay. In those situations, Holding Pay would apply, but Flight Attendants would not be entitled to any additional Boarding Pay.
Cancellations:
Section 4.S.1.a.(2). provides "If a flight is boarded and the flight subsequently cancels, the Flight Attendant shall receive boarding pay for the boarding." This language ensures that Flight Attendants are paid for boarding even if the flight subsequently cancels. Should a flight cancel prior to customer boarding, no Boarding Pay is due.
NOTE: At the time of this publication, the data for re-boardings and cancellations are being captured, however the pay associated with the re-boarding or cancellation after boarding is not being calculated or displayed. Should you have a re-boarding or a cancellation after boarding, there is no action necessary on your part. We are aware that some crews have been advised to submit a HelpHub case. We would ask that you not do so. Flight Attendants will be paid for the re-boarding and cancellations, however that pay may be delayed while we verify the accuracy of the re-boarding/cancellation data. Once this issue is resolved, we will provide an update of when the impacted Flight Attendants will see the pay.
Seniority Trades
As noted in the Implementation Letter of Agreement, the seniority trip trades which occur on the 27th of the month will be discontinued in June for the July bid month. Starting on June 23, real-time trades will open in two-hour brackets, starting in Guam and ending in Honolulu, as they do today. Following Honolulu's two-hour bracket, real time trading will reopen for the entire system and remain open going forward into the new bid month.
Parking Reimbursement
Effective for the June bid month, Flight Attendants utilizing out-of-base parking may be reimbursed for up to $60 per month, up from $35 dollars per month under the JCBA. There are no changes to any other aspect of how to seek reimbursement; only the amount per month has changed. If you have questions about parking or the parking reimbursement, please contact your local Base management.
Per Diem
Increases in both Domestic and International per diem are in effect for the June bid month. Domestic per diem will increase to $2.97 and International per diem will increase to $3.54.
Please note that the definition of what constitutes Domestic and what constitutes International have not been updated. Those definitions are not currently scheduled to be updated until the June 2027 bid month.
One-Time Payment
The One-Time Payment provided for in Letter of Agreement 23 is scheduled to be paid on or about September 15. We have received a number of questions about whether Flight Attendants can defer some portion of the payment to their 401(k) or UK Stakeholder account, and the answer is yes, you can defer a portion of your payment.
We will be publishing more information about exact timing, however we will be offering the opportunity for Flight Attendants to elect what portion, if any, of their One-Time Payment they wish to defer to their 401(k)/UK Stakeholder account. Similar to what we do each year with Profit Sharing, this election will apply only to the One-Time Payment and will not impact the elections you make for your regular paychecks. For planning purposes, please remember that the One-Time Payment is not subject to any employer direct or matching contributions.
