After thinking of an idea or how I wanted to implement assessment and feedback differently in my classes, I needed to create a prototype to give it a shot. The cool thing about this assessment and feedback change is I am not limited to where I am going to try it out. I can use it in all or just some of my classes. This will only need to be varied slightly to use it in other classes. My test phase will be for my Computer Science classes and I will be using this on my Python Unit that we run just before the end of the school year.
I have two classes of Computer Science that were each going to be starting our text based coding unit. I used Google Sheets to create a Progress Monitoring Sheet. I used Google Slides to create Digital Notebooks for students to organize the different steps of the coding process we had learned all year.
Student goals would include:
Complete the essential concepts vocabulary based on some blended learning models (DOK 1)
Complete the new programming concept needed to complete the project (DOK 2)
Complete the conclusion question that recap the new information (DOK 3)
Work through the additional project/activity on coding concept (DOK 4)
The Google Sheet below is the Progress Monitoring Sheet I used in my Computer Science classes this unit. Each student is only given access to their row. I put in each student as STUDENT # and allowed them to change it to their name if they wanted to. As students progressed through each topic they were able to self pace and also allow me to see where they were on their progress. In classes that
