As I am working through my (re)design project, I got a lot of great feedback from my students. Students let me know the ways assessments and feedback worked for them. I was surprised with how open students were with my survey. A lot of students were able to be both critical and complimentary of the teachers they had including me. On the other hand students were also open and honest about their learning styles as well.
Through the survey, I learned that my:
students most enjoyed hands-on activities and being creative
students appreciated timely feedback
students preferred teacher feedback but peer feedback is also valued
students don't always understand the feedback they receive but understand it more often than they do not
students feel like assessments are only somewhat of a representation of their skills
students feel projects and teaching others is a more valuable assessment opportunity than traditional test and quizzes
